Living a nomadic lifestyle usually entails some form of nomadic working. There are travelers who follow the wind to find in-season jobs. Others are considered digital nomads and can work from any nook that has wifi once they've got their laptops with them. We fall into the latter category. We the Wildflowers is headquartered out of a 2008 Pleasure Way. Our office is always with us. Once we're in range of wifi, we're in business.
As a travel blog it's kind of important to travel from time to time. This 20ft van takes us where the stories are created. Our size keeps us versatile. Driving up mountain sides with ease and parking just about anywhere to quickly catch photos on a whim is a necessity in this line of work. With a convertible bed, 2 burner stove, and inside bathroom we're able to eat, sleep, and shit content for We the Wildflowers. With two tables, we're able to set up separate desks to get work done in the office. Ample storage areas ensured we didn't have to lose our entire library when we hit the road. Some books are just uncompromisable. Now, we get to have them with us wherever we work.
The average mid-sized car emits 1.3 tons of CO2 annually for a 10-mile round trip commute to work. Not having to commute mean less greenhouse gases are emitted. It also takes less fuel to power a 200 sq ft camper opposed to a 2,000 sq ft office. You think about these things when trying to live a more sustainable lifestyle. Probably the most endearing result of not commuting to and from working is the less. No more trudging along in traffic everyday!
There's always snacks and drinks in the refrigerator. Coffee or tea is usually brewing. Staying active is important. No worries at headquarters. Yoga mats are stored under-tow and just outside the door is more than likely the perfect trail to hike on lunch break. There's a pillow with my name on it for any late night brainstorming. And, with an ever changing view beyond the office window, inspiration is never far.
